First Timers

Welcome to our studio! Here is some information to make your first visit as smooth as possible.

To streamline your process, register online, sign your waiver, pick your first class or service, and get ready to visit!

FINDING THE STUDIO

We encourage planning ahead to find us on your first go. Our studio entrance is at the rear of the building, behind Smith's Olde Bar. ISO on GOOGLE MAPS

 

PARKING

There is a driveway with limited parking spots below the entrance; alternatively, there is plenty of free parking at Chase Bank (though it will require you to walk around to the back). There is additional parking at Ansley Mall across the road.

 

WHAT TO BRING

To practice yoga or Pilates, you will need a yoga mat, a towel to put on your mat, and some water.

If you would like to shower afterwards, bring a bath towel too. We provide natural soap and shampoos free of charge. We have a water filter for your convenience, so bring a bottle to fill.

If you don’t have these items, we have rental items. Mats and towels are $3 each, and water can be purchased for $6. We offer a complimentary mat and towel on your first visit.

Wear something you are comfortable working out in, though prepare to sweat through your clothes. Something light and not too baggy usually works best. A good example for men is shorts and a short-sleeve top, or no top. For women, yoga pants, shorts, a crop top, or a singlet tend to work well.

 

HOW TO BEST PREPARE

Hydrate well before class. Take regular sips throughout the day and consume at least 1L of water an hour before you come to practice.

Eat something light and avoid heavy food consumption one to two hours before class. This will be more comfortable for you in the room.

Try not to be undernourished. You will need energy to practice. Low blood sugar can be detrimental too, so find that right balance. If you feel you haven't eaten enough, have a banana or a smoothie before class.

 

WHEN TO ARRIVE

Try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early on your first class so we can get you situated in the space to have your best possible first class. A staff member will greet you and show you the space. Doors to the studio close when class starts; this is to ensure we provide classes as scheduled.

 

YOGA ROOM ETIQUETTE

Please keep phones stored with your belongings and refrain from bringing them into the yoga room. We allow Apple watches, but please keep them silent. This provides for a space of non-distraction and better yoga. Photos and phone use are welcome after class.

Beginners may find placing their mats in the 2nd or 3rd row easier to follow the practice.

Try not to talk during practice so you can hear the instructions clearly and listen to your breath. There’s time for questions after class.

Be tolerant and aware of those around you as we endeavor to create a safe space for everyone.

YOUR MAIN GOAL IN YOUR FIRST YOGA CLASS

Our original hot yoga and Inferno HIIT Pilates classes, though beginner-friendly, are challenging when you first start.

Expect to be challenged and humbled.

 

​It takes some time to get acclimated to the heat - approximately six classes. In your first class the goal is to breathe and take care of yourself. There is no pressure to do all the postures. Listen to your body, move slowly and mindfully. The goal is to stay in the room for the entirety of the class. This aids in acclimating to the heat while remaining in safety. It is not only easier for the teacher to be a supportive eye but also avoids the stress on the body caused by rapidly moving from hot to cold. It is fine to sit down or lie down as many times as needed. Go at your own pace - we are committed to your safety.

AFTER CLASS

Expect to feel amazing. You just made it through your first class! Hydrate, nourish, rest well, and come back as soon as you can! Try to practice at least 6–10 times in your first month. This will yield the best results. In the beginning, consistency is key.
